In January 2002, President Bush signed the "The No Child Left Behind Act." It reauthorized the existing Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). NCLB made the most sweeping changes in federal law regarding public schools in nearly 40 years. This page provides links to some of the basic notifications required by NCLB along with additional information. If you have unanswered questions about NCLB you may contact the Gideon School District for local information or to find out where you can secure further information.
As of March 2010, NCLB is past it's reauthorization period. We will continue to operate under current guidelines untill Congress passes a reauthorization bill. Secrtary Duncan has filed a revised proposal and it is working it's way through the legislative process.
