The A+ Schools program was established as part of the outstanding schools act of 1993.  As an A+ school, Gideon School District is charged with developing a variety of new educational opportunities for students.

The overall goals of the A+ Schools Program include:

  • All student graduate from high school.
    • The graduation rate will be increasing or maintained at a high level as defined by MSIP performance standards.
  • All students complete a selection of high school studies that is challenging and for which there are identified learning expectations.
    • The percentage of credits earned in advanced courses will be increasing or maintained at a high level as defined by MSIP performance standards.
  • All students proceed from high school graduation to a chollege, postsecondary career-technical school or high-wage job with workplace skill development opportunities.
    • The percentage of students proceeding to college, postsecondary career technical school or high-wage job with workplace skill development opportunities will be increasing (by at least 3% per year) or maintained at a high level (95% or higher).

Every student attending Gideon School District benefits from the program.   Every student who completes the requirements will benefit from the program.   The amount of benefit realized from the program depends on the level of commitment by individual students.  Some of the benefits include, tutoring, work experience, applied academics, career counseling, internships, dual credit, and post-secondary financial assistance.

 It is the student's and parent's responsibility to know the requirement of the program and their status in the program.
