What Does The School Counselor Do?
Elementary School
Counselor:
Assists
students to learn the skills and attitudes necessary to be successful
learners and works with students to address their career,
personal-social and educational needs and concerns.
High School Counselor:
Works with
students in acquiring guidance competencies that form the foundation
for their next steps educationally and occupationally.
School Counselor: Fosters excellence by helping all students to achieve their potential. The counselor promotes through work in four program areas.
1. Classroom presentations and large group activities.

2. Individual student
planning for
academic and career planning:
- Development of short-term and long range education and career plans

Helping students with personal goals and concerns, and with educational progress
4. Management activities to support the guidance program and other school programs:
- Helping with various activities through-out the school, such as Career Day, Career Fair, College Night, Open House, Testing and where ever needed
